I was assigned an agent through my credit union, and he dropped me when he found out I was a first time buyer coming in at the bottom of the market in LA. In the crazy overinflated LA market, all I was able to afford was a fixer. The credit union then assigned me to Marise, and I was immediately afraid she would drop me as well. During our first conversation, she listened to my situation and reassured me that she would help me find the perfect house.
On the first day we looked at two duds I found online. She then surprised me by showing me a fixer with good curb appeal, lots of natural light, and potential. When I found out it was way above my budget, I was disappointed. What I didn't know is that it was sitting on the market for over 100 days and was way overpriced. We put in a lowball offer on the "bright fixer", and it was rejected.
We looked at a lot of other places for several weeks. The LA market is notorious for low inventory and crazy overinflation. There were a lot of duds, and the houses I put offers on had multiple offers. Welcome to LA real-estate.
After a few months, we decided to put in another lowball offer on the bright fixer. After some back-and-forth, Marise negotiated with the seller to accept the offer.
It has been almost one year, and the house has a new roof/gutters, new kitchen, new heater, functional electrical, plumbing, and heat. After a few more projects I am confident we will be able to sell this house for its full value, which is $150K above what we paid for it.

Throughout the entire process, she's been nothing but helpful and very patient in what was going on. Regardless of the time or day, she was there to answer all of our questions and address our concerns. She made us feel comfortable with the home buying process, and when we face obstacles, she was there to console us and assure us that it was all going to be fine. We were constantly calling or texting Marise, asking her if we could see this house or request information on another house, and she would be so quick to respond.
But above all, we trusted her. She told us if the property wasn't worth the time, and if we didn't agree with her, she would bring up other options we could choose. After the transaction was done, and we closed our new home, we were nervous about things going wrong, like the leaky plumbing, Marise was quick to get on the phone and let the seller know, and the seller sent someone right away to address the issue.
The only time where there were any problems was when we had to deal with our bank SchoolsFirst FCU, there were just so many hiccups. We had never had an issue with the bank in any other aspect. For the first time, we almost decided to not go through with the loan because Renee Reynolds kept giving us mixed information. When we would talk to Marise about it, she was really helpful with providing us with other contacts for different stages of the loan. We ended up talking to over five people and two of those people actually went on 2-3 week vacations without sending us an email to let me know or even by placing an away message on their email when we were in the process of putting an offer in. It was only until we talked to Israel Frias, again Marise gave us the contact for this person, that we got a better loan offer than what we were originally quoted for. There was so much negligence and if we were not persistent we really think that we were not going to be able to get the house. In addition, hours before the close of escrow, our final wire from SchoolsFirstFCU didn't go through and we had another stressful time. Again, if Marise didn't help to guide us through this process and with her experience and her knowledge we never could have gotten the house.
Marise, thank you for all your help and time. We hope to cross paths with you again some day, and share memories of how you helped us purchase our first home. You were amazing, thanks again.

I have to start by saying my husband and I have been looking to purchase a home for years. We have worked with realtors in the past, and have had to take multiple "breaks" because of frustration with the process. We've had countless hours wasted looking at homes we either couldn't afford or weren't suited for us, because our realtor wasn't truly listening to our needs. Marise is in my opinion, the best in the business! She took the time to REALLY get to know my family, and understand our needs. (Lots of storage, safe neighborhood, closet space, etc) When we went to look at homes with her, not once did we feel our time was wasted. We were absolutely blown away by the professionalism and dedication Marise showed both myself and my husband. We looked for over 6 months in the LA area having all of our offers rejected. Several years ago, we contacted Speedy to locate a very specific condo for a family member who lived in California. We contacted Speedy and we discussed what we were looking for and he set up an email alert to send anytime a listing matched our criteria. This went on for some time as none seemed to really match what our family member was seeking. Speedy periodically contacted us if there was anything he could assist us with finding just the right place. Fast forward, and our family member passed. Not being from the area, we interviewed multiple realtors to sell her current condo. Not being too impressed with the first few we interviewed, Speedy happened to be the last person we interviewed.
